On HATVA trails atvers have real trail touring opportunities - how about Kinmount to Barrys Bay by trail or Muskoka to Bobcaygeon? Finally real trail touring in the province of Ontario. And lets not forget the important affiliation with other ATV Ontario communities like Parry Sound, Elliot Lake, Cochrane, EOTA and Mattawa! And if you want a voice in ATV matters in Ontario we have the contacts, the track record and the experience including our stakeholder affiliation with Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership and the first organization in the province to have a Master Trail Plan agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources. We also have a warm relationship with our local OFSC clubs and we offer discounts to local snowmobile clubs. Currently we are maintaining bridges and trails for HCSA. JOIN US - you won't regret it. QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK COMMENTS |
Queen Elizabeth 2 Park is a large Park that includes a sizable piece of Haliburton. HATVA has trails in the Park including the famous Anson Mountain trail which features a great intermediate/expert trail and has a view from the top of the Mountain that has to be seen to be believed. The Park use committee is seeking comments as to what future uses will be able to continue to enjoy the Park. HATVA is sending this to you along with decal and our new 2006 map. Please politely fill out the Park comment sheet and mail it to the address shown on the form and indicate if you would like the existing trail to stay open to atv's. |

RAIL TRAIL CLOSES DECEMBER FOR THE SEASON |
The County of Haliburton & HATVA would like to remind all ATVers that the Haliburton County Rail Trail will close for the season as of Dec 1st for atv use. The County bylaw permits atv use from November 30 to May 31st of each year. HATVA and the County of Haliburton would like to thank all atvers for adhering to the bylaw #3106. This bylaw stipulates speed limits, time of useage and permit requirements. The rail trail will reopen next season for atv use on June 1st. Other HATVA trails open April 1st. A copy of the bylaw is available from the County or check the HATVA web site. The rail trail is enforced by the OPP Save Team, County & HATVA Wardens. |

HATVA HAS FORMED MUSKOKA ASSOCIATE CLUB CHAPTER |
| Many of the HATVA trails are already signed and mapped in what is known as the Muskoka district. A number of HATVA members are currently residing in the Muskoka area including Huntsville, Dwight, Bracebridge and Dorset west. From a practical point of view the two areas are joined by Crown wilderness and from a trail riders perspective, you really don't care where the municipal boundaries lie. HATVA club is an association and is not limited by municipal boundaries. HATVA is bringing economies of scale to our membership in the north Muskoka area. It really gives the area a chance to get going from an atv recreation perspective because the costs are borne by the club and large barriers like insurance, trail signage and mapping become doable with the resources of the parent club applied to trail development. Muskoka Chapter is now included in our membership area. HATVA currently has Associate Club members in Haliburton, Kawartha, Madawaska, Peterborough and Muskoka and others are in negotiation. |
HATVA MEMBERS RESCUE LOST MAN & SIX YEAR OLD SON |
| Working in conjunction with the OPP members Mark Coles, Hugh Trask and Steve Skidmore did a November nightime rescue of a man with his six year old son that was stuck and lost in the bush. It was a happy ending for all. The rescued were cold and wet and plan to join HATVA and travel with others in future. The story was covered in several newspapers and radio. OPP issued a media release release crediting the HATVA for the rescue. |
HALIBURTON RAIL TRAIL USE PERMIT TO BE RENEWED |
| Thanks to the efforts of many HATVA volunteers in signing, wardening, calcium dust control and maintainence the County Sponsored Rail Trail Committee has agreed to extend HATVA's use permit for two more years. Meanwhile the HATVA-KTR is working on similar arrangements for the rail trail from Kinmount south to Fenelon Falls. Remember the Haliburton Rail Trail is wardened and the only valid use pass is HATVA. OFATV passes are no longer valid on HATVA trails. |
